Room With A View | Exhibition

I recently got the chance to experiment with screen printing my photographic images onto fabric making a large calico textile piece. My textile piece consists of a repeated image of rocks which I took at Kilve Beach. (I also made a blog post that you can find here). The theme of these textile pieces was black and white repeated patterns. I was actually very pleasantly surprised with the outcome of mine! In total 14 students at my college made textile pieces which are now on display in a exhibition open to the public. (I will leave all links below of how to access the website, where it is etc).

This is my calico monochrome repeated pattern textile piece.
All these textile pieces are for sale for £40 each.

These scarfs are made from silk and are for sale at £95 each.

Initial degree show intentions

This is a plan for my initial degree show intentions however, I have since done another shoot as have more successful edits. I would possibly now like to have eight of my images printed A3 and onto foam board. Although this may not be possible as I am unable to know how much space I will be given to display my work. I would like to have a mac screen to display my digital blog however I am unsure whether there will be an internet connection available on the day which my blog could be live for the public to see. I have thought about taking screenshots of my blog and making it into a shot film which would be constantly playing allowing the public to see my blog posts without interaction and with ease.

Typography and fonts

I wanted to experiment with fonts and lettering a little more so I used a font website to search for appropriate fonts which I could use. I also searched the internet and magazines for similar advertisements to see what they included and to see what type of font was used. This research wasn't as successful as I had hoped for as I didn't find much like I was specifically searching for.

Making commercial style edits

After looking at my successful edits I thought about how they could be used commercially. I decided to go on Photoshop to make the 'party theme' photo more like a business card/leaflet giving the photo a little bit more of a context. I was aiming to make a basic template and develop ideas from the theme.

A new photoshoot with different ideas

I decided that I wanted to start another theme with a new photoshoot. Taking advice and experience from my project so far. I combined ideas for what I want going forward. I decided that I wanted to go back to the start of my project and create commercial like photos. This is definitely something I wish to experiment with. I am planning to create specific 'themes' for this photoshoot having a proper aim to begin with. Depending on how successful the themed shoot is I would like to use jewellery as a subject matter and to see if they could be used for advertisement purposes.

Blur workshop

My photography tutor held a Photoshop workshop. This enabled us to play around in Photoshop with blur filters such as Iris, Field and Tilt. For examples I used my own photographs to experiment with. I found that the Iris blur filter was the most successful and worked the best with the majority of my photos although I wouldn't use blur filters on my final edits for this project as I don't feel it fits with the style or theme of fashion still life.

Going digital with my edits

After looking at the outcome from my window acetate shoot I decided that it would be interesting to make some multiple image edits using Photoshop. I am planning to adjust the blending modes and opacity levels when layering my photos. I hope to create some successful outcomes. I am going to combine my original edits an my Kilve beach edits to ether as I thought those worked very well together on the window. I am also only going to make a few edits for example test shots to see how successful the outcome is.
